This large freestanding wooden structure presents a striking and unusual example of Japanese display furniture. While its form may recall traditional kimono racks (ikō), its proportions and construction suggest a different purpose.
The thick horizontal elements and deep structure make it unsuitable for hanging garments, instead pointing toward use as a display stand for textiles, objects, or shop presentation. Its strong presence is reinforced by the heavy, deliberately rustic base blocks, which provide stability and visual grounding.
The wood, likely keyaki (zelkova) or a similar hardwood, shows a rich aged tone and a surface that has developed a natural patina over time.
